Facelift front entry door / aluminium / laminex
Hi Guys. When we built our new home, we got a full sold front entry door in plain finish (not wood grain). The door is 1200 x 2040. The idea was to put a wallpaper on the door to make it look fancy - which we did. However even the weatherproof wallpaper is not holding up to the harsh Sydney weather even tho it never gets direct sunlight or rain, so it's time for it to go.
Once the wall paper is out, we can either just paint it flat (not what we want) or do something fancy.
I was thinking we can choose a nice laminex/formica panel - probably aluminium brush finish or the sorts and have the door laminated. So have a couple of questions:
- Whether this can be done/ is advisable
- Who would do it because this needs to be done on-site, not like i can send my entry door for it to be finished at a factory
The other alternative is someone gives me an idea on how to get a brushed finish to the door (so not necessary with laminate etc, but sheeting maybe) and who would do it?
Any advice/idea is appreciated!
Thanks!
