Errors When Viewing "New Posts" - Can't Move Past Page 1
Screen Shot - 06092015.jpgGreetings,
For the last few days, I've noticed that when viewing "New Posts" on the forum, I can view Page 1 with no errors. However, when I try to move to Page 2 (or other subsequent pages) I get an error pop-up that says "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms."
This is happening on Linux using both Firefox Version 40.0.3, and in Google Chrome Version 45.0.2454.85. It also happens on Android using the Dolphin browser, and on Windows 10 using Firefox.
I've tried clearing cache, cookies, etc, related to the forum, but that action has no effect on this problem.
Any suggestions regarding how to fix this problem, or is the problem on the web server ?
Regards,

Yes I had the same thing yesterday on one occasion (the only occasion where there was more than one page).

Just tried this, Firefox on WinXP, page 2 no problems nor page 3.
Firefox on Android as above, no problems.
Don't use other browsers.

I know this is a bit late but if looking at new posts as above the forum times out after a while if you don't keep moving through them and this happens on all V Bulletin fora.

Is anyone still having a problem with this? If so please let me know.
I have tried to reproduce it on Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome and Opera and so far, all are loading the new posts very fast. Multiple pages are available almost instantly and I've gone back through 9 pages without any slowness or other problems.

Neil, it happens on every V Bulletin forum, if you don't move through the posts the forum times out. I use the "new posts" every day and it has always been this way on every forum.

Do you keep the new posts thing up all the time and go to the new posts via that?
If so that may be the reason as once you have viewed them they are no longer new posts even if you post in them. Just a suggestion.
Have to admit I have never struck the problem but I also never use the "New Posts" thing. I still can't reproduce the problem but last time I looked there were 398 new posts in it for me. At 50 per page that's almost 8 full pages and each loaded almost instantly. in 4 different browsers. Left all four for an hour or so and the new posts were all still there and working fine.
Going to leave them on all night tonight and see what happens.

I use the new post menu link every time I look at any forum be it this one or any other. As you say multiple pages appear and I then browse through them but if I get sidetracked or delayed for whatever reason the page of headers I am currently looking at will still work but when I go to access the next page it no longer works and has no headers in it. It does display a short message but I can't recall what it is. I have always regarded it as normal if a little annoying but it has never bothered me enough to ask questions. I have used most browsers, Chrome, Opera, Safari, FF, Explorer and they all have the same behaviour. This forum is one of the better ones, when it happens it is possible to restart and get a list of new headers + the ones that were being looked at in the prior instance but some Fora when that is done only display the headers that have been posted while you have been logged on and maybe two or three headers will appear the second time.

Of course there is always Quick Links-Todays' Posts (at the top of the page).
Although it shows all posts for Today, the ones you haven't read are bold.

Fred, new posts is better for those who don't come here daily, it might be a week between visits for me at times. I really don't see the issue as any sort of major problem and just refresh the link when I need to. If there are too many posts I go as far as I want and mark the forum read.

Left it on all night last night and this morning I discovered that the B computer had done updates and shut down.
So no result.
I think hitting the New Posts link after it times out isn't really too much of a problem as you say no biggie. We can extend the timeout time but that throws up a whole heap of other problems and false statistics, etc. So the refresh button might be the best answer.
I'll leave it on in the factory today to see how long it takes to time out and try the refresh button.
Cheers - Neil
