Default Henry Bros - oh dear

    Attachment 204986
I rang Henry bros on Thursday to get 3 new blades for my old 12" Paulcall bandsaw. The guy asked some questions which made me think that he hadn't heard me say that the length of blade is 1095mm, but I didn't confirm the length.
They arrived last night (great service) but they are about 500mm short.
I hope they will be good about replacing them (I would have thought someone would have noticed how short they were and rung me to check)

I have what looks like the same bandsaw. It was my fathers. Recently cleaned it up and did a few repairs and have it working again.

Have not purchased a blade yet. Just used the one blade that was in it so far.

This is what really annoys me about placing orders by phone and why email can be better.

Or a phone call and confirming email.

Fortunately my blades arrived too long and HB organised to have them shortened locally.
But I was sweating that it was a deal done over the phone - fortunately HB agreed the numbers had got confused.

I can't complain about the service from Henry Bros & Brad - excellent. I have dealt with them for a number of years through a local supplier until recently. Now I order & confirm by email and besides that HB don't manufacture the bands or send the gear until paid for. I receive an invoice, with all of the details listed, then pay by direct deposit. Plenty of opportunity to pick up a mistake.

You have to feel for suppliers though, I purchased a Woodfast BS500 which seems to come in quite a number of variations / specifications depending upon who you purchase them from and what wheels are fitted to the particular machine. Various publications list the band length as 3607 or 3635 mm long. Which do you believe? I discussed with Brad & we both decided 3635 mm is the common size ordered. You would think the extra 28 mm could be taken up easily with the blade tension mechanism. Not so on my machine with the tension quick release device as there is now very limited tension travel. Unfortunately the blades / bands have to be re-cut but certainly not HB's fault by any means.

Jeremy I had a similar situation with HB but only to long by 5mm enough not to be able to tension a quick call and dropped them off no problem. BUT 500mm to short maybe they ran out of blade
