    Default Hello from Melbourne

    Hi All,

I am not so much a dedicated woodworker as a general hobbyist who likes to build and tinker with things - wood or metal.

I've been directed to this site plenty of times via google searches previously when searching for info, so I thought I should join the community. Clearly lots of very talented people on this forum doing interesting things.

My current interest (when I'm not trying to rebuild a pinball machine that I've pulled apart) is to restore a couple of old Australian bench drills I have that have seen better days - a Servian and a JS Richardson. I note a few threads here where others have done just that, so I'll be reading those with keen interest.

    All the best
    Tom

So, ... are you a "Pinball Wizard"?

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Tom".
There are a heap of members in & around Melbourne as well as across the rest of Victoria..
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [work in progress] photos with build notes.
    Enjoy the forum.
    Enjoy your woodwork.
    Cheers, crowie

PS - the Melbourne Wood Show is on soon, so keep an eye out on the forum, great place to met up with fellow forum members at the forum stand....

    Thanks Crowie & Mike.

No, definitely not a pinball wizard. I enjoy the machines for their construction more than anything. The play side of things needs a lot more attention.

    Pity Tom.
I like a bit of "The Who".

Does your machine have electronics or electro-mechanicals?

    Hi Mike,
I'm a DMD pinball kinda guy.
Whilst some of the early EM and SS had wonderful artwork, I think the game play on late 80's through to late 902 are the best. It can be an expensive hobby.
Almost takes up as much room as setting up a nice woodworking workshop.

    Default hello

    Hello!
From Australia? Oh, what a pleasure!
Welcome! I'm a newcomer too, by the way. Not so long I started to work with wooden materials and also read books in this area. Hope to develop my skills with the help of the forum.
