2"door into 1 3/4" frame
I've just been given an old stripped pine internal door complete with panels and mouldings and I want to use it as a front door. The finish isn't a problem as it is within a small entrance porch, but the present front door is only 1 3/4" thick and so is the rebate but my pine door is 2".
The question is can I fit it,will it open ok,or do I have to rout out the rebate in the frame?

If you don't mind you door sitting 1/4 inch outside your frame (if moulded frame) it will work no worries, If you use the router idea which is a much better finish make sure you scribe the door to the opening as not to leave odd sized gap's if frame is not square or level. don't forget to give yourself enough gap for paint. As i've fixed a ton of doors only for that reason
