Refilling LPG cylinders.

Not sure where this belongs on the forum so have posted here . I am looking for info on what training and regulations cover the refilling of LPG cylinders. Mainly the 9Kg at this time will do me. Anyone know where this info is on the net?

Can't seem to find what I want there. All I need to know basically is anyone allowed to refill the 9KG LPG cylinders, or is there some sort of certificate required to do this?

I'm not aware of any training or certification required to fill the small bottles. At the end of the day it's not rocket science; open the fill level valve, open the main valve, let the liquid gas flow until liquid comes out the fill level valve. Close all valves.

There's probably some regulations about where you are allowed to site the big storage bottle but that would be about it.

In Darwin naval base we used to do our own bottle fills; there was never any training required.

Thanks for the replies. This is for the place I work at. We have two large storage cylinders and I often have to refill 9KG cylinders from these for use at work. Never done this before I worked there and just wondered if I needed any certificate to do this.

As an employee, you would only expect to be given a task you have been trained to do competently.
Your employer is responsible for the training.

However, if you feel that insufficient training has been provided and you want more information to help yourself.... you may want to look at these resources.

At our work to decant gas bottles for the fork there was an informal tuition to meet the requirements. No certificates or qualifications wrre necessary. Btw iam in Victoria.

Your links were just what I was looking for. Although no training has been given by my employer I did know the basics of refilling an LPG cylinder. I can now continue doing this confident that I am doing it the right way.
