Default BOC LPG cutting nozzle size??

    Hi All

I have a heap of cutting to do, mainly 1/4 inch thick and 1/2 inch thick mild steel but also some railway line.

Would the 1 cutting nozzle do both jobs?

What size for the Boc 2 seat Oxy/LPG cutting nozzles do I need?

Available sizes are 6,8,12,15,20 and 24.

    Regards

    Dave

    Number 8 is ideal for 5-10mm, 12 for 12-20mm and number 15 covers 25-75mm.
Number 12 may scrape in on the railway track, but I doubt it. If you are restricted to only one tip, I would go with a 15 as you can turn the preheat flame down for 5mm but you can't make a number 8 cut 25mm.

OK, thanks Karl, I'll get a No. 15. I can soon get a smaller one if the 15 uses too much gas on the lighter work.

Dave, when you go to cut the railway line, put a cold chisel nick in it at the point of cut, as it won't need as much preheating prior to cutting.
