    Default Why is it ...

Why is it that you spend ... say, $100 buying materials for a job, convert said materials into a product, yet the cleanup produces waste to the equivalent value of $200?

    Dead set.
I cleaned up the shed today, as is my wont after completing a project - tools put away, epoxy tubs cleaned of waste, shavings swept off the floor. I kid you not, in making TWO flamin' oars, I created enough waste to build a dozen boats  Just after I started, a mate came over to see how it was done. The cheeky sod disappeared without a word to me about a third of the way through - well, I found him today, gasping for breath under the shavings. I thought he'd ****** off and gone home

And the worst part is, now that the shed's tidy again, I won't be able to find anything for the next fortnight.

I just make shavings... any items of furniture / kitchen cabinets / toys that come out of the shed are just a by-product

What you need is some moulds and plenty of glue.
That way you can even make stuff outa sawdust & shavings.
