Default Spraying Oil paints - is the Graco Truecoat any good?

    Howdy brainstrust, me again!

I've been thinking a lot about spraying water and oil paints as, for as much as I HATE IT, people keep asking me to do it. All. The. Time!....

Making stuff of MDF and pine is all the rage. As foul as it is, it keeps the wolves away.

Spraying is done in my tent with breathing gear, a high CFM/capacity compressor and a couple of good guns, but the overspray and loss is high. I have a new job that has just pushed this into overdrive and I've been thinking about how factories and pros do it....

I saw the Graco Truecoat Plus 2 for sale at masters. At $380, it isn't cheap, but its not a toy.

I was wondering if anyone had/has any experience doing a professional oil finish on furniture who can proffer an opinion?

I cant help you directly - just saying that a couple of years ago I put up a question about how the airless hvlp systems like graco compare to conversion gun setups like you currently use.

    https://www.woodworkforums.com/showth...highlight=Hvlp

It might be worth a read - although there is no definitive answer and I still dont have one. The problem is everyone has a different definition of a 'perfect finish'.

I didnt go much further with the idea because I already own a Wagner Wallperfect, a Finefinisher, an SE400 and a couple of other Wagners and they are all pretty hatefull and put me right off airless - which is kind of unfair having never tried an upmarket brand.

    Sorry, not much help
