    Default Plumb Bob

With a stonework wall to build I decided I could do better than a bit of baler twine & a 6" nail.

Steel, brass & ivory bob with an evergreen oak & rosewood reel.

Won't work any better than the twine & nail, but sure is a lot nicer to look at! I guess you do spend quite a bit of time looking at a plumb bob, so worth the effort, I reckon. Well done!

    Cheers,

    Default The Bob.

    Hi Mark,
Having used the Plumb Bob for many years, for standing Electricity Poles, I feel yours, though very nicely made, wood be far to light IMHO, as even a good breeze will blow it all over the place.
    The Heavier the better.

Right you are - it does wobble about a bit, probably wrong weight to length ratio. Plan to bore out the steel & brass parts & fill with mercury. That should slow it down a bit.

As someone who has had mercury poisoning, if I can offer some advice - stay away from it!

In my case it paralysed me similar to having had a stroke, and lasts for many years.

    PS It looks good.

Wouldn't I need to do a Risk Assessment for that?
