Polyurethane over epoxy resin
Hi all,
I'm after some advise regarding finishing tabletop. I'm planning filling nail holes & knot holes in my reclaimed timber with some FeatsWatson glass finish epoxy resin. The question is can I go over this with a oil based polyurethane clear to finish the whole top, something like Cabots Cabathane Clear.
Cheers.

Yes. Poly sticks quite well to epoxy.

What they said.
We do this at work (furniture making) with West Systems/Araldite and it comes up a treat.
Go for it.Every time you make a typo, the errorists win.

A quick couple of questions for consideration, why would you wish to use an epoxy and thereafter poly coat ? and secondly why use such plastic coatings over reclaimed timber?
As an alternative for consideration and in my humble opinion, you could equally try using hard shellac, or tung oil, hard burnishing oil or other based oil finish kunos/livos products. All can be used to produce a nice shine, provide terrific protection, are more timber friendly (feed the timber) rather than simply seal off and are easily repaired in time, unlike plastic coatings which will require full stripping back. Just a thought for consideration.

Epoxy for filling holes, poly as the overall finish.
If it was located outside, it'd be epoxy (ALL over) for waterproofing, and poly for UV proofing the epoxy.
