    Welcome to the forum.

Just in case you had not taken a look at the work bench section of the forum here is the link.

One thing to note is to not get to hung up on the various designs.

thanks for the welcome guys, I'm searching for some scrap wood to make my bench out of only doing something simple and want to use scrap wood as it will be the biggest thing I've made and I won't worry if I mess something up with scrap wood. Next stop though is a mitre saw although can't really afford to spend a lot of dollars the minister for finance and war would love it if I spent under $100 not liking my chances though.
Maybe my next project could be a dog house big enpugh for me and the dog.

    G'Day Wayne,
My bench isn't fancy, just 2 secondhand solid core doors from a throughout plus some 4x2 pine for the frame bolted and screwed together.
It has worked well this past 6yrs.... make sure you add a thread with the project and enjoy the build...
On the tools, look for "deceased estates", "garage sales" and or "clearance sales" as you could pickup a good quality older tool.....
    Cheers, crowie

Could always use a handsaw as I would think most of the cuts would be relatively short cross grain. Might even be worth going to The Traditional Tool Group sale in Thornleigh this Sunday 22nd of February.

Was thinking the same thing I've got about 5 hand saws and a mitre box i inherited from dad when he died 2 yrs ago and I did get a circular saw and belt sander given to me.
Im still trying to work out the circular saw so far my cuts havent been that straight guess that will improve with more practice.

Thanks mate will do for sure, still havent found any wood for the frame but im going to mark out the top and trim it tomorrow.
plan on taking lots of pics.
WSife gave me a list of stuff she needs built so I told her I need to make my bench first, trying to get some scrap wood off some friends for the frame so I can finish it I want to get it done within the next 2 weeks.

Gumtree is good for free stuff to be repurposed if you live near a city. Lots of timber and demo free or very cheap.

Looking forward to your build. Hope i see it when you start it
