I've been reading the forums for a while and picking up useful info along the way, which has been a great help, but the time has come to ask a question.

I'm trying to tidy up the windows at the front of our house as they are badly installed and the exterior architrave looks a mess. This necessitates moving the windows outwards a little and backfilling the reveal on the inside. There is currently no flashing installed around the window and of course no sarking either. One window is under the verandah and the other has an awning over it (which also has no flashing!). There's a picture attached.

The awning is also in line for being tidied up and somewhere down the line we'll probably want to fit wall insulation and perhaps replace the windows with some a little more in keeping with the period of the house.

I'd like to check where I should be flashing and what with? I guess the minimum would be to flash the awning to the wall, but even that has some protection from the eves. I'm in Melbourne and this side of the house faces to the west. There is some indication of water previously finding it's way on to the rough sill of the window under the verandah but think it's from a long time ago.

Thanks very much,
Chris
