2K matt clear on Tassie Oak
Hi Guys
I have just started making skateboard decks out of hardwood slabs (Blackbutt and Tassie Oak) I just thought I would pick the brains of a few experts..
I want to paint parts of the timber and then Clear coat everything when I'm finished. So basically I want to have 3/4 of the board showing the grain and timber and then the rest painted.
i am a signwriter by trade so I know a fair bit about paints and spraying
Has anyone had any luck with spraying timber in 2K clear? should i use and sanding sealer first? Im thinking of using a flex additive to allow for a bit more movement.
any advice would be great.
Thanks

If I have to coat timber with a clear coat I generally use shellac as a sealer.
Sometimes put a few coats on with a light sand (1200 grit) in between.
Hope this helps.
