    Default Scandinavian oil wiping application

    Evening all,

i've used both Danish oil from organoil and Scandanavian oil from Feast Watson. The Danish oil was easy to apply - wipe on wait then wipe off, buff then a bit of carnauba to give a great finish. I then made a tv unit with S.oil. Wipe on, wait until tacky or 30 mins then wipe off. Wipe off my a**. Once it's tacky it requires much effort to get off. Sticks like glue and more like heavy wiping with all the force you can muster, repeated many times over. Finish looks great but I must be doing something wrong.

I'm finishing my next project which is a desk for my son and finishing the draws in the same stuff. Tried the same process but very quickly was reduced nearly to tears. Instead of waiting until tacky I then waited a couple of minutes and then removed. This is much closer to wiping off and finish appears to be ok, and will look even better after a few more coats.

Anyone else had the same experience? Is it just me and I need to toughen up?

    Cheers,

    Tom

    Hi Tom,

Try Wattyl Scandinavian Oil. Great finish, just wipe on. Easy.

    Regards,

    Rob
