Retaining "pinks" in Camphor
Gday all
I have some camphor slab. It has some beautiful pink "cushion" in areas.
I have made some clock and tea candle stands previous. The pinks have been "lost".
Have tried a number of finishes. Poly, Danish oils etc.
The best has probably been the "Gillies Rose cream" in looking natural.
Though still the pink is dulled down to a lightish brown.
Any tips appreciated.
cheers Bob

Even if you got a finish that would retain the pinks, the sunlight would get them, I've found it retains the deeper reds, oranges and greens but the pinks disappears.
