Being a car detailer & renting alone this old house for a dozen or so years i try & keep it clean & tidy mostly because i have 1930s furniture, various collections & a beloved four legged friend who tends to shed fur couple or so times year. My biggest let-down is i`m not one to tack on an apron & frill about the house dusting although vacumning is always done each w/e. After mowing i always remove, clean the boots totally & spray pine o clean on the soles & let dry as the pooch leaves her calling cards everywhere. The garage/workshop noted elsewhere is probably cleaner than the house!

Yeah, pretty much the same as the others. Before anyone is allowed in the shed they have to be CA blown down and put hair nets on their shoes. Shoe nets on the head are not required though, unless I spy a particularly nasty case of dandruff.
What?
Going from the shed to the house you mean? Pfffft, too easy.
The biggest problem getting tracked into the house is in Oct/Nov when the Rhododendron is in flower. Every part of the flower is sticky (petals, sepals etc) and they all drop off the tree in sequence for about 6 weeks or more. Sticks to the shoes like the proverbial. Sticks to the cats too, and it drives Nursie crackers (she can move an inch if their is a hair out of place, much like my second wife).
O'course this coincides with the 3 cats shedding season, so the floors can become a tip within hours of vaccing.
Then there's the hundreds of possum scats that are in the courtyard every morning. Not sure what's worse - fresh and "sticky" moist or fully wet with rain.
Don't know how Master Splinter would get on with a strip down though. I am reliably informed that there are no socks involved......
