THE G20
Any of my fellow forumites taken much notice of this looming event and its participants??
Just an brief out line of a couple of leaders.
Cristina Fernadez de Kirchner of Argentina. Took over the presidency when her husband died an is now in her second term. Still rants on about the Falklands belonging to Argentina. Has forced the bureaucrats to fudge the figures on the economy and threatened prison for those who dispute what is published. Banned the import of Caterpillar parts to Argentina thereby throwing the mining industry off track.
Argentina has defaulted on debt payments. On that basis alone why is this country part of the G20.
Dilma Rousseff of Brazil. A true Marxist. Was an active guerilla allegedly responsible for taking part in the death of a couple of police officers and a number of robberies that procured money for the group. Dilma was Gaoled and supposedly tortured by the military government. She succeeded Lula da Silva as president and has hastened the leftist social reform program. While Brazil has huge unemployment, high crime rates and a large illiteracy rate the reforms seem to be doing little, if anything, to turn the tide.
Dilma has aligned herself with Cuba, Venezuela and other like minded governments in the region. She has given billions of dollars to these countries, including the establishment of a pharmaceutical industry in Cuba. This has effectively taken jobs from Brazil. Her most recent act of stupidity is to grant visa free access to Brazil for Afghans, Pakistanis and Iranians.
In the current election campaign Dilma is running a close battle with her opponent and in some debates when questioned vigorously has feigned sickness to avoid answering questions. An opposition politician died in a plane crash and Dilma banned the release of the findings of the investigation.
Jacob Zuma of South Africa. Have you seen the photos of his massive multi million dollar compound?? A great example of how to live in isolated splendor while millions of your countrymen live in poverty.

I dont think there is such a thing as a clean pollie Artme. Many have a road to Damascus moment (Mandela, Gerry Adams etc) but few have sparkling histories. Our lot are no better. Abbott has plenty of colour in his past.
