Battening ceiling
Hi again,
I am getting ready to batten the ceiling of my extension for plasterboard. It is a hip roof construction where the bottom chords of trusses are at right-angles to each other at places, leaving large spaces where battens would be unsupported.
I suspect I will need to put blocking in between the truss chords that run parallel to the battens in order to attach the batten to something. Is this correct? Should the blocking be at the same spacing as the trusses (600mm)? This would seem like a lot of additional timber, but am I on the right track?
Also, is steel now the norm for ceiling battens?
Cheers!
