Replacing 2.4M Aluminium Sliding Doors with Bifolds - Do I need new steel lintels
Hi
I may replace my existing 2.4M aluminium sliding windows with timber or metal bifolds.
I understand if I have the width expanded to say 4M then due to knocking out brickwork etc, a new lintel will need to go in.
However I may just look to put bifolds into the existing double brick cavity, for this I thought i would not need structural work.
I have been told that as Bifolds hang from the top, even this option I will need new lintels and hence structural work.
Any opinions?
