Yep, and the cops are sh*tting themselves cos there is talk of being able to 3D print firearms.

It will be interesting to see where this technology goes. I think its one of those "what a great idea, what can we do with it?" technologies. There was a story on tele last night about using it to print proteins. These are then used to implant into broken humans with some stem cells and kaboo! new nose or ear or whatever. Terrific stuff. Given the cash in medicine I expect this will lead the way.

The limitation of 3d printing will always be the media, that guy is only making parts, and not even high stress parts yet he's only getting 100 rounds before failure.

If you take firearms as an example, I think the authorities have more to worry about from the increasing availability and decreasing cost of mills and lathes.
Making a weapon with a lathe & mill would not be that hard, for criminal purposes youi're not interested in the tolerances and Q/C of a commercial constructor - remember that the Sten gun was designed to be made by unskilled labour and was produced in a toy factory.
