Ceiling joists lateral restraint needed?
I am putting in a ceiling in my lower storey under an existing floor. The floor has a bearer midspan which is held up by steel railway beams (these are solid). my program tells me to use 120x35 for a 3.4m span, I will use 140x45 since its whats available and notch out 20mm where this centre bearer is. It says to install a centre batten for roll over and maintenance (lateral restraint) since there will be no maintenance i take it its not needed?
