I've decided that the TCT bladed drop saw was an awesome investment!
96 struts for the trusses required all up, made a good dent in them tonight.

I got it from my local machinery supplier - Nubco Hobart.
Was $750 with a spare blade. Seems to be well built and surviving so far! The brand is Steelmaster.

That was a pretty good price seeing what they go for online. I thought the Dewalt was a bit pricey, but maybe it isn't such a bad deal.
I'd be interested to hear how long the blade lasts.

Quick (and bad) time lapse of putting together a truss on Saturday. Excuse the inactivity during the middle - I must have lost interest for a while

Cool video.
Having the camera pointing at the bright doorway made the auto-exposure go a bit kooky sometimes - better if you can set up the shot so the light level is consistent - maybe mounting it high above the doorway looking down would work?
Your welder looks identical to my UniMIG/Jasic 165, but for the paint job and knob colour.

Yeah I'll find a better spot next time!
At a guess I'd say the welder is just a rebranded generic one (as with most these days). Going really well so far with the flux core wire, just had to replace a few helmet screens! (So very smoky)
4 trusses down, 4 to go!

Did I mention that flux core was very smoky?
On the plus side, had some more welding tuition and they're ever improving!

Wow, that is a lot of smoke. Do you wear a filter or supplied air or something?
And you aren't welding the tight inside corners of the truss diagonals? I guess they are under compression and it might be hard to get the mig gun in there anyway?

Wearing a respirator
I am welding underneath, just hadnt yet in this shot. Goes in quite nicely, but any tighter and it'd be an issue.
