Why the hell are the press focusing on Thorpie's coming out? Isn't the bigger issue his battle with depression. Once again a sporting hero is battling the Black Dog, and all the press are concerned with is his sexuality. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME.

Probably because it was about time he told us what we already knew (and he's already told us about the depression).

It's a bit like a mate of mine - late 50s and STILL proclaiming his heterosexuality - regularly and loudly - never been married, no girlfriend that we know of for 25 years or more. Every gay who spots him knows - we all know - he doesn't know? Oh come on p-lease!

I guess thinking, knowing or worrying about how the media/public would react to his sexuality would have exacerbated his depression in the first place. It's a shame that sensationalised stories sell better than the news that actually matters.

That UTube is a real gooden!!! (I am by no means a sports enthusiast) but for that man to publicly tell the world of his depression shows a lot of courage. For him to hide it for 15 years and still function is amazing. My opinion is that there are more people with it that don't know. I know that before I dropped out of the work force with it it took all my strength to just keep going!! As much as I didn't want to be feeling like I was, I just couldn't get out from under. 9 years on, I still have trouble most days.....its a barstead
On the homosexual side of it, Becky Cole, (Australian country music singer) "came out" last year. She is the girl who went to Afghanistan to perform to our blokes over there. She would have appealed to them because there is a lot of girl in her performance.....pity she is batting for the other side

Its sad that his sexuality has been focused on - at the end of the day who cares whether he is gay or straight, at least he's not a womanising cheat (as in his extra marital affairs) like Warne.
The fact is that he's done Australia proud and we should be proud of him.

I don't really care whether Thorpie is straight or gay
but I am disappointed in him.

The other morning my wife said, "Thorpie is coming out today".

I put the kettle on but he didn't show up.
