Beeched as bro
Looking to do a horn repair on a saw today . Some fussing around and a mistake here and there have led to me now not having sufficient material for the repair. Any one have an old beech saw handle or plane that is damaged beyond repair
Otherwise I am Beeched as bro...

I've got a couple of old handles you are welcome to Paul. I'll go have a look and see if I reckon 1 is beech

This one might be beechish. Pretty sure the other one is apple. Those were the droids I was looking for.

Paul, I have old beech from planes that should work for small repairs if you are still short of material.
Cheers

Thanks for all the offers. Gotta love the forum. I have been offered a piece of an old plane which should tide me over.

Hello mate.
A lot of "colonial" style furniture especially dining suites were imported from the old Yugoslavia in the late 70s and into the 80s. It was made of beech. Check any Windsor looking chairs you see on council cleanup. Scored a good amount of little scrap bits from just one chair.
Many of ikea's items are made from beech too. Have made a few knife handles and repaired saw horns from our folding chairs that, well, don't fold any more, one might say.
Cheers,
Virg.
Ps extremely groan-worthy thread title. Well done.

Idiots? No. Weird? Maybe. In desperate need of some good professional help? Definitely!
And I was that only person on the planet, but that's now fixed.
It's fun taking the pus out of our cousins across the Tasman, but I don't think we'll ever top "Piggy" Muldoon's insult - you know, the one about how all the Kiwis coming to Oz has benefited both countries, because?.........
The average IQ has increased in both places!
Cheers,IW

A couple of days ago I got a beech log from next door. About 10 ft long and maybe 14 inches in the middle.
I am learning, slowley.
