I wouldn't want the pile to support anything long term, looks like it was going straight into mud with a very thin crust. Heck of a lot of other piles around it as well, probably the lot would sink once loaded.
I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.

No I love the idea off construction works working to a beat.
When I traveled overseas it is hard to know whether a building was going up or coming down.

The Time Team did a show, from somewhere in Britain, where they dug up piles from a marsh that had been driven using that method. They were still some there after some thousands of years. I guess the method does work pretty well after all.
