Default Burl Hunting ... not sure which heading this should be under

A little bit of history before I get into this. My Brother has just been diagnosed with terminal cancer and I have his twins with me for the rest of the year while he has chemo.

My brother is what some might call a computer nerd and his kids likewise live on the computer ... bringing us to todays hunt.

Desperately trying to fill the twins time with something other than computers I took them down the creek just out around the cemetary. I showed them what burls are and we went hunting. We also found a number of old bottles which we will return for shortly.

Not many burls lying on the ground. These ones are one that grow around a branch, not sure if they are technically burls or not. Most rather small and struggle to make a pen from. There is another area that has a long water front that would have been good between town and the cemetary but it was fenced off as live stock had been in there.

Anyway further down stream we were doing ok. Some of what the kids found was just decaying wood. The creek is at the lowest I have seen for some time so things found that would not have been found otherwise.

Looking back I see Erik who says 'I have found one Uncle Dave, but it is a bit light'.

Being several car lengths away I look back and say 'I dont think so, I think you will find that is a cow patty'

    'A what', he replies

    'Cow dung!'

He is holding this close to his face by this point in both hands as he freezes and releases. It was rather funny as he says, 'OHhhh!'

These are the twins on their computers

We did get some burls ranging from small to tiny

Dave, do you remember I saw some rather large ones ~85k northeast of you on the eastern side (on the way to Narrandera).
