Where to start- builder or draftsmen/ engineer
Hi all,
I have been doing some searching on here but cant really find the answer i am looking for. Figured this was the best place to ask the questions?
We have a 2 storey steel framed/ brick house on sloping Gold Coast block. It is a large house with a small deck, We want to extend the deck to include outdoor stairs to the ground level. We want a roof on it. Total Deck space will end up about 30 sq m plus the stairs. We have had 4 builders out. First one quoted over the top.Didnt hear back from the 2nd one, the 3rd and 4th ones seem ok however they dont seem all that interested in the job. They all ask if we have plans yet so we are thinking maybe we should get an engineer? or draftsmen or whoever to draw up some plans showing exactly what we want and materials to be used etc etc. Then get them to provide firm quotes off that. Will also need council approval etc so i guess the engineer could do this for us as well? Does this sound like the way to go as opposed to getting ball park figures from builders and then hoping for the best? Really want to get things moving on this so any help appreciated,
Cheers.. Paul
