Precision Profile Grinder
Well, I have found another machine tool too good to ignore.
It is a surplus Wasino Model GLS-80A Precision Profile Grinder manufactured in 1986.
The owner used it for profile grinding of cutting tools used in timber milling machines, represented by architrave mouldings.
The machine is located under a shelter outside a small machining business in Penrith.
I suggested that it be put on ebay.
Seeking comments as to whether it is any use, and what value it might have.
It is a brute of a thing, including a Xenon Arc Power Unit to provide the lighting to the magnifying comparator.
It appears to be metric, with some sort of vernier on the leadscrews.
I just have to try and lubricate the process of finding it a new home.
The owner will accept offers - I said I would pass on his contact details to anyone that enquires (PM to me).

Got one.. or I just might. though where I would put it I dont know.
Interestingly the casting says Wasino but much of it sure looks Wickman(thats not to say Wickman didnt copy it from someone else or one wasnt owned by the other at some stage).
If you get the time could you get me some more pictures of the dust extraction around the wheel and the parts above left of the wheel in the last picture please?
Stuart
p.s. while I have a few uses in mind for mine I think they are pretty much a collectors item. EDM has taken over their job......... as I understand it.
