Is there a need for guest status?
Not sure whether this is an issue or not –
Every so often in the metal works section we get someone showing up wanting something done. Now if it's someone from another part of the forum with some posts to their name I haven't a problem with that. However, in the last month we have had two people show up, both freely admitting they know nothing about what they are asking for. They will probably be helped out by someone but I'm pretty sure that neither of these guys will hang around after their issue is resolved.
Looking through the membership lists there are a significant proportion of members who joined several years ago and only have a post or two to their name – the same situation? Should there be a temporary membership category for this sort of thing? Should posts asking for something to be made/ done from new members be posted in the Market place under a guest tag so that it is clear they are there for some sort of transaction rather than getting involved in forum discussions?

It only takes 30 secs to join. If they want to post they have to join. Some will make one or two posts and disappear but the majority will find value in the forums and stay. Guests = Spam.
Those were the droids I was looking for.
