    Default Attachment time-out?

I was browsing my User CP when I noticed the "attachments' menu. Being a curious sod I promptly found out it told me the qty & size of my attachments.

I'd assumed there was some sort of auto-deletion after such'n'such time, now I'm wondering if there's a max size or qty of attachments?

Any info? The FAQ covers the basics of what they are but doesn't go into detail...
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

You'll have to check with Neil, but as I understand it, after you've uploaded an attachment, it sits on Neil's server forever, or the aliens upload it to their flying saucer, cos I don't think the server is wrapped in foil.
    Boring signature time again!

Don't know about the max size or quantity but mine says :

You are currently using 19.23 MB to store 427 uploaded attachments.

One day the whole server is going to explode with all the stored stuff.

Keep the size managable and we'll get more on before the explosion. You can take them off if you wish but it would make for some dull posts.

At least your posts, doug, will never be dull. I think I'm getting addicted to your avatar.

On the topic for a moment: I seem to have come across some sort of archived version of the forum without pics. I can't remember how I got them now (might have been through google searching), and the whole look of them was different: no avatars, no pictures, just text in boxes.

Click on Archive at the bottom of any page (or here). This is what Google and most of the search engines see and where most of our visitors and hits come from.

Yep, Neil, that's what I was thinking of.

I checked out some old posts. The earliest pics post is http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com...ead.php?t=4041 and is dated 21st April 2003. Does that mean posts older than this get their graphics stripped and put into the purgatory of the pic-less archives?

Lack of pics prior to late April 2003 will most likely be because that is when we changed over to this new vBulletin program from the old UBB forums. But not necessarily.
