    Default horse float floor

    Chaps,

A mat has asked me to replace the floor in his horse float The old floor as form board and has given way.

The rails are 510 centres which I think is to wide?

He wants to put in a timer floor so I was thinking of using merbau decking, any opinions on this?

I am thinking of putting in extra rails @250 centres and when I is down there is a rubber mat that is glued over it.

    Questions...

    If not merbau what else?

should I leave a small gap to allow it to dry better or but it up and seal?

Strip flooring in horse floats went out years ago. Too hard to stop movement and muck between boards just sped up rot. If was me, I would put in another plywood floor. I know they dont last for ever, but they are stable. The better quality form ply tends to outlast the cheaper imported stuff. Tar sealer on the edges and it will last for years.
