best finish for blue gum
I am going to be making a clock from Blue Gum. What do you recommend as a finish?

Hi GJ and welcome.
Personally, I prefer oil finishes as I think they give a glow that you don't get from certain other finishes. But if this is your first project and you want an easy way of getting a satin (or gloss) finish with only a little work, you could try Wipe On Poly, which is a Polyurethane finish that you wipe on with a clean cloth. Not much else to say really. It would be nice to know whereabouts in Australia you are. If you are in Melbourne, I can teach you a great oil finish technique.
Regards,
Rob
