Do have any ideas as to why the 25 thou slitting blade you have doesn't track properly with the deeper slit. Just a thought bubble. Is it possible that the downward clamping pressure is causing this deeper slit to collapse slightly behind the cutter blade when machining, causing the blade to track off.

Hi Stewie, no, that 25 thou blade won't track regardless of depth. In any event I'm not doing deep slitting with that blade, only the thicker and stiffer 32 thou. The clamping doesn't close up the cut, I've got it set up just so.
A 32 thou blade is pretty thick, it's in the same ballpark as those bunnings scraper blades, but you could make a nice big tenon saw, say 18" x 5" a bit like the Badaxe Beast Bad Axe Tool Works - Roubo Beastmaster or even the 20" Ron Bontz 20" Roubo Saw - Bontz Saw Works

First lot arrived in the post from Ray today along with a small package to my Partner from Henry Eckert! So either she is developing an interest in tools or I'm getting one for Xmas, I'm happy both ways.
Ray can you test that side grooving theory on one spine for the next batch.
There will be an order placed for a 50' roll of 4"x 0.025 of which 35' has been spoken for. Also getting a 50' roll of 3"x 0.020" for a future workshop in Sydney run by one of the participants from the Melbourne workshop. If anyone wants to piggyback and buy in bulk PM me.…..Live a Quiet Life & Work with your Hands

Hi Dale,
The should be 2 tubes, each one has 7 x 20" 20 thou slit. That's 14 lengths x 20"
A third tube was posted yesterday with another 7 x 20" 20 thou slit, bringing the total to 21 lengths.
Plus a special bonus, I've included in the third tube... ( "You also get..." ) 2 lengths of the deep slit 32 thou for anyone who wants to experiment with the "folded" look. Steak Knives optional..
There won't be any 25 thou slit until the new blades arrive... might not be until after Christmas.
Regards
Ray
PS... Side grooves, you want two grooves top and bottom on each side? Chamfered as well?

Saw plate won't be here until sometime early next year, we still have to order it, plus 2weeks lead time and delivery from UK.
I though you were going to say the special bonus was you had finished my saw
Side grooves, two grooves top and bottom on each side & Chamfered sounds good.
Sent you an email to clarify costings.
Had some PMs from new faces interested in the materials, more saw makers the merrier!!…..Live a Quiet Life & Work with your Hands

Everyone who had put their hand up for the saw plate and spines are covered and can collect tomorrow or over the weekend. Just call to make a time as I will be in and out.
Otherwise you can collect after the 8th of Jan.
Those interstate obviously will get theirs posted out either individually or to a central form member to collect from just let me know.

Hi All,
The 25 thou slitting saws arrived today, so I'll be slitting a batch of 25 thou backs in the coming days, so with luck, I'll be posting them down to Dale next week.
