    Default Snakes alive

    Posted Today, 07:00 AM
    G'day all,

This little guy/gal has decided to visit us this year. At almost 1m long this Carpet Python is the first one we have seen in the 10 years we have been here.
He seems to be using the plant (Ficus pumila ) as a hammock.

He is now holed up just above the frog pond on a ledge.
The pond contains over 80 Motororbike frogs so I can't see him moving away any time soon.

    Thumbs up

    Gorgeous animal!!!

I hope he cleans up the rats and mice and the frogs are left alone.

Motorbike frogs sound like a small two stroke motor bike going up through the rev range at a distance.
When you get a few of them together it can sounds like a 125 cc Gran Prix race.
They are very cool little critters

    Very cool snake picture BTW.

I forgot to say we have couple in our fish pond as well (motorbike frogs that is) and around 9 pm when I take the dogs out down the back for their last whizz break before bringing them inside, the motorbikes are often firing.

One must have had something wrong with it or maybe it was a juvenile because instead of the 3-4 second burst it could only manage a short berrrrrrpp!
If you answer back they will often answer back - I tried variations like berrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrpp - berrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrpp, or berrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrpp - berrrrpp but they only have seem to know the one tune.
