Not sure I quite agree with meaning in suffering, but that might be a whole 'nother discussion.
Some anti depressants have "adrenaline re-uptake inhibitors" which your coffee might be replicating. I would still be weary of them as the dose is a bit of a guess. At least a doc would be keeping an eye on things. Some people don't react well to the extra adrenaline. I doesn't work for me. I get really angry. And end up yelling at people. for nothing.
And perhaps could be feuling those stupid drunk violence things going on at the moment. Not the alcohol but the red bulls.anne-maria.

Lignum, I'm glad to hear that the person you're caring for got benefit out of your brew. OTOH if s/he is on prescribed meds that have such a sedative effect then perhaps a med review by the GP or psych is warranted.
