Bbqs
Does any person out there know of a reliable BBQ that heats evenly
and has decent wind shielding?
Don't say Jackeroo because it ain't so!

There aren't many.
I have found the Weber Q comes very close in evenness of heat and believe it or not an el cheapo knock off from Bunnings.
Wind shielding isn't bad either.

We now have a Weber Q 200, which is the middle sized of the three Q Weber's.
Choice Magazine in their current edition did a barbeque test, Weber filled top spot in all three size categories overall.
More importantly, they topped the cooking score pretty much for each size model as well.
I'm typing this in-between cooking some roast spuds and at the last bit, say last 5 minutes, I'll be placing some fish fillets on the plate (an accessory).
We do pizza, fish, roasts (lamb is especially nice and don't even bother to get into the fight for the crackling for pork, you'll be left for dust) steaks various and sometimes German style rissoles.
Haven't cooked bread in it yet, but will be doing so one day.
If you marry a Weber with a Thermapen thermometer, you pretty much have a match made in heaven. Splash Proof Super Fast Thermapen
These are re-furbished from the manufacturer, that seller is the manufacturer in the UK, I know as I have one of these units. Cost to me was $60.41 AUD delivered to my door. Came with a comprehensive user manual, a certificate it's calibration and accuracy and how to re-calibrate it when it eventually drifts over time, read years.
They are nothing short of brilliant, I cook to temperature now and these little units are so quick and accurate, I have turned into a very proficient cook on the barbeque.
I would suggest you look carefully into whatever you purchase, but for evenness of cooking and excellence of cooked product, our experience is that the Weber Q series is pretty much up there.
In extremely windy weather, they do require longer to cook, but then again, any barbeque that is outdoors has the same problem.

One more thing with a Weber barbeque, you will need to learn to cook with the lid down for best cooking and taste.
You can cook with the lid up, but trust me when I say it's not too flash an idea on a Weber Q

Weber Q !
I'm going to cook the Christmas turkey in the Q, after success with a few chooks, various chops, steaks and pizzas.
And, as previously noted, you might get killed in the rush for the crackling on the roast porkJohn

Used to have a Webber but could never cook consistently on it.
It eventually gave up the ghost. One thing with it was that it was
almost impossible to get a result with any cool wind blowing.
Tried to cook a fish- wrapped in foil- in it one day with a cool
wind blowing through a carport. A long, slow and very tedious
process so we ended up finishing it in the oven.

Another vote for a weber q. I love it and when my current one dies, I'd not hesitate to get another.
Another good reason to get one is they use something like half the gas of other bbqs.

If you are looking at the Weber Q you should also consider the Ziggy from Barbecues Galore. I bought one 6 months ago after looking closely at the Weber, and haven't regretted it.

My vote is for the Webber Q with the thermostat dial. You will cook steaks like you get at a top restaurant, racks of lamb are beautiful and roast pork with crackling is devine.
Mine has plastic side tables that fold into the BBQ when not in use. Heard of the bloke who lit his BBQ without taking the side tables out and melted them in his new BBQ and ruined it the first time he used it.

concern me as I have never liked it!
