Hi,

I will be doing an extension and renovation to my home.

A component of this extension area is a cellar (7.5m long X 5m wide, 2m deep), this will be under the new extension area of the home (cellar sligthly smaller than the extension).
The backyard is 800mm lower than the floor level of the home, meaning excavating 2m, will give me 2.7m height in the cellar (100mm for slab).

The working drawings are with the engineer who i'm expecting to come back next week with the specifications and computations.

I've read a little on this site which has been very helpful.

My father is a bricklayer and will complete all the blockwork / retaining walls.

I have done a soil test and have received quotes on the excavation.

What I'm struggling with a little is:
1. The actual end to end activities and sequence, ie. start to finish and the sequence of those.
2. Idea of cost

If anyone has completed a project as such, I would be interested in hearing about the sequence of activities.
ie.) I assume the first activity to for me to excavate?
Or do I get a plumber to connect to the sewer prior to digging?

I know by excavating early and not timing other activities will leave me with a massive hole in the backyard, a potential OH&S hazard and an area which could become a "pool" with rainfall which I would then need to pump out.

Engineer has already explained that I would need to reinforce an existing wall (the footings) as they will be undermined by the cellar.
This will require piers.

Anyway, would love to know:
1. Actual end to end activities and sequence, ie. start to finish and the sequence of those.
2. Approx cost (ie. would 25K be ample to do this, considering i wouldnt need to pay for the labour associated to the brickwork / blocks.

Thanks,
Michael
