Steve caught it down here live streaming
Liked how tools and the wood seemed to be put down in one place but reappear from under the bench or elsewhere

Just finished watching through episode 1 from Youtube. Interesting and informative, noted the view counters as I watched the three parts, Pt 1 100, Pt 2 44, Pt 3 36. Seems to drop viewers a bit from part 1 to part 2, but generally hold viewers part 2 to part 3. Still very early days cos it's only been up a few hours, but I definitely like what I see.
One thing I did find in part 1 when you where basically doing the outline section was that the youtube compression was really biting into the video stream, to the extent that it was still framing the image for four or five seconds while you were talking, then would jump to a similar image and stillframe on that as you kept talking. Wasn't an issue later on while you were working as there was enough movement to keep the image moving as well. I know it's an artifact of the video compression, and probably doesn't happen in the broadcast version, but it can be a turn off for people who have found too many things on youtube that fail part way. May account for some of the sharp dropoff from viewers counts from pt1 to pt 2.
Great that someone local was willing and able to have a go and get some support to make it happen. Definitely will be looking for the remaining episodes. Thanks.I used to be an engineer, I'm not an engineer any more, but on the really good days I can remember when I was.

Dave, you can use KeepVid: Download and save any video from Youtube, Dailymotion, Metacafe, iFilm and more! to download the episodes from YouTube to your computer. Just copy/paste each part's link into the box provided. RayG's post above, (Post #21), has the links.
They're available in 480p and 720p HD. I haven't watched them myself yet. I'll wait until all 3 parts have downloaded, then put the bits back together into one full episode.
I also just added them to the forums' Video section in 'Instructional/Demonstrations', but they won't appear immediately, not until they've been vetted by the powers-that-be.
Edit: I should have added - after pasting the link into KeepVid, press the 'Download' button to the right, (not the ones immediately below the text box, they're just ads), then a list of available formats will appear. Right-click on the one of your choice and 'Save Target As' to your computer. (IE) There's also an equivalent in Firefox etc.... Steve

Well, I finally got to watch it. That was very good, Steve.
I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the next episode.
I had none of the issues mentioned by malb when viewing a local copy, away from YouTube.
It went together into a nice, one-piece video, 778MB @ 720p.
For anyone that downloads the 3 pieces and wants to put them back together into a single video, VideoPad works well and is very easy to use. The free download version is available part-way down the page here: Video Editing Software. Download Free Video Movie Editor
Edit: I have a bought/licensed copy, but the only difference is that the free version has some limits on output formats, from memory.... Steve

Good work Steve,
Just watched all three no worries, I'd be weighing that bench down though.
Looking forward to the rest of the series. The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources.

Great show Steve.
I have been looking forward to the show for a while now.
I must say you have done a great job and come across so natural on TV. Maybe you should have been a movie star instead of a carpenter.

Really enjoyed the show. Informative, honest and unpretentious. Look forward to it evolving over the (hopefully) years.
