There used to be a troupe that traveled the shows in Australia many years ago that did the same thing on motorbikes.

    Showing my age now.

I saw that show as well.

My age must also be showing.

Have seen old footage of a sphere with two motorbike riders looping at right angles to each other. UK IIRC.

I remember the wall of death in Oz. It was at the local show in Macksville a couple of times.

In the 1980's, probably mid 80's, at the Lake Goldsmith Steam Rally, one of the exhibitors apart from his steam operated merry-go-round had a sphere which they demonstrated with one and then two motor bikes.

    Centrifugal force in action!

Used to be a pair (brothers I think) who used to do that at the Sydney Show each year in the late '50s.
Saw 'em every year, always hoping for a mistake, but there never was one.

One difference between those guys and the Aussies riders a few decades back would be who welded the cage, if it was this bloke there could be a problem.

    Amazing.

The Wall of Death has been a spectacle particularly in motorcycling for a long time . The prefered machine of choice was the Indian and they stopped producing those in 1953. I think the cylinder was a smaller diameter than that in the video.

The centrifugal forces are huge and it is a lot more difficult than it looks. The lack of protection is an issue but indicative of that countries regard for life in general.

Cirque-de-sole (However you spell it) had a couple of motor cyclists who did the sphere thing too.

    Default Not quite

    Not quite!

The preferred machine of choice was the Indian and they stopped producing those in 1953.
Gilroy resurrected Indian and produced bikes up to about 1999 2003. - then Stellican had a go and produced "Kings Mountain" Indians until about 2012 when they sold out to Polaris Industries (Victory Motorcycles).. who've just released pics of their 2014 model.

    Similar aged Indian Chief

"Medicine Woman" on a Gilroy from the late 1990's

2012/13 Kings Mountain "Stellican" Indian Chief Classic

    2014 "Victory" Indian Chieftan

Not trying to be pedantic - just that Indians are a bit of a hobby of mine... maybe one day I'll be wealthy enough to own and ride one.

I prayed for a loong time for God to give me one, - but then I worked out that he is the sort of God who doesn't work that way, so I just stole one, and prayed to God to forgive me for my sin!
