Record QR Bench Vise as a Tail Vise...which size?
Says it all in the title really.
I'm planning to build another woodworking workbench (smaller than the last one because of workspace constraints) and I want to put a tail vise on it. I have a few Record vises hanging about and I was wondering if anybody has used one as a tail vise, if so, which size and how happy with it were you?
I did a bit of searching on the web and one of the few things I could find about what I'm thinking of, said the larger sizes were overkill......seemed wrong to me, not natural......so I thought I'd ask.We don't know how lucky we are......

I have a Record No. 52 as a tail vice. Works great. And gets used as an end vice almost as often as a tail vice.
Summary here post #14.

Thanks for the reply, I'll lean towards the #52. I've seen your bench build thread before but it was a while ago.....excellent job.
