Alter Ego
When you're over 50, it doesn't mean you can't make mistakes... Two moths back, I posted plans for a pirate ship. I copied them after doing a halfhearted research about the copyright. Some two weeks later I found out there was still a copyright on them, they were even still for sale! So I asked the webmaster to remove the thread, off as I was with that sort of mistake (by myself)... And sat down on my laptop to draw one myself. Of course there will be similarities between the both ships, but: the plans are free and will be posted here... And you can look at the pics I took wile working on this ship...Here is the first set.

Love this pirate ship Leo. I like how it is made of mostly straight parts but looks like a real ship. I will definately be building one when you post the plans. Your photos are so good I could probably build one close to it.

The crow's nest
This was a bit tricky. You have to drill holes at a 30° angle, keeping it lined up towards the center. I first drilled the holes a few millimeters straight. Then attached the pieces with a small vice at the extra table witch was set at 30°. On the table I drew a few lines, so I could see the right direction of the holes. But a few pics say more...;-)

The car
The car is another project, still going on. The idea was to make the wheels turn as in a real car. It took some time to create the pinion and gears, as well as the right angle for the steering wheel. I still have some problems with the body as it should "flow" over the gears and front wheels. I didn't took pics, but when I continue on it they will follow!

G'Day Leo,
I missed this one yesterday much to my dismay as it's a beauty.
You sure have a great imagination and talent for making top toys; this pirate ship is one of them....
I especially like the CROWS NEST, lol.......
Thank you for the WIP photos and build notes, very much appreciated.
Cheers crowie

Well done on the crow's nest Leo!!
Drilling at an angle is always problematic.

Last set of pictures...
The ship is finally finished! The measurements are (approximately): 65 cm long, 40 cm high and 20 cm wide. The rigging isn't my best skill, but I think it's fair. The sails are rather small, but you have to get inside with your hands. So, these are the last pictures on this one... Within a few days I'll post the plans. The next project? I don't know yet... But you'll find out in time!
