$20 bucks well spent
My next project is a built in bookshelf, painted to match some other furniture so I'm using 18 mm MDF.
The sides will be about 300mm x 2300mm, so it was easier to get Bunnings to cut them down for me. I have a torn shoulder and handling big sheets is a nightmare. As most of the 20 shelves will be just under 300mm x 800mm, I had all six sheets ripped down to 300mm. It is also a lot easier to fit in my trailer.
I had some 6mm panels cut down for the back of the units as well.
All up, $20 bucks and all cuts done with the saw in the same setting so they will all match.
bargain I reckon..so now I have a shed full of cut wood, two weeks off work.......only problem is the two weeks is due to shoulder surgery yesterday. No using left arm for 4 weeks, only physio stuff, arm in sling for 6 weeks and restricted duties for twelve weeks
.
My gorgeous better half has bought me several woody magazines so that will have to be my fix, and this forum of courseLast edited by RicB; 13th August 2013 at 12:51 PM. Reason: Typo

Hi,
You were lucky lots of places won't cut MDF any more due to OH&S concerns.
Best of luck with the surgery and recovery.

I don't know about your Bunnings, but mine uses a vertical panel saw, and the store guarantees the accuracy to 20mm or something like that lol, if it is dead accurate then bargain, it would be cheaper for anyone bar someone with a table saw to get the cuts done there if it is bang on.

Don't want to tempt fate but I'd be checking your lengths carefully before claiming money well spent
Had some interesting experiences with Bunnings cutting timer to "length"
Hope the shoulder get's better.

Thanks for all the well wishes, it might be a bit longer recovery than I thought. I scanned the Workcover certificate AND SENT IT off to work (HR) with a "see you in a couple of weeks", I got an email back saying I need to look at the certificate a bit closer, it is nearly seven weeks off
Sure enough, I checked the certificate and I thought it was off until 28/8/13 it was 28/9/13. All that time off and I'm not allowed in shed, well can go in shed, but I can only look..., and....it gets worse, Stephen emails me and says my Clear Vue max will be about a week away.....I WON'T EVEN BE ABLE TO OPEN THE BOXES.......

I'm picking up what you're putting down, the cuts were all made with the saw at the same setting. Having them all the same size is a bonus, I have a TS and can trim them all down to matching widths if needed, the main concern was my dicky shoulder, I was battling to handle large sheets prior to the op and I knew post op I would have to be very careful so as not to stuff up the recuperation.
As I was loading the cut sheets onto the trolley, I had them all on their edges and I couldn't feel a lip, so I reckon he did a good job...
We had a bit of a chat whilst he was cutting and he has a TS at home, so it probably helped that he is a woody and not just someone shown how to use the saw.Try to look unimportant, they may be low on ammo.
