Thanks all for your kind words.
I was close to her and in my life there will now always be the before and the after.
Heh, after 3 sons she was convinced she'd produce a daughter and I was going to be named Elizabeth.
She had mild but increasing dementia and spent 2.5 years in an excellent nursing home. We used to take her out weekly for lunch and she was still open to exotica like shashimi and sushi at the local Japanese restaurant.
After the funeral we had a great wake with family having come from all over the country and phone calls from her rellies in Holland.
At the service one of my sons spoke a fine eulogy on behalf of the 3rd gen. in Oz.
In time I'll write my own, when the keyboard won't get trashed by tears.Cheers, Ern
