I haven't even moved into the house I'm owner building yet (issues with power), but in the back of my mind, I'm already planning my dream home, of which high ceilings is a must.

Current build has 9ft (well, not really, but close enough at 2700mm) ceilings, so at the higher end of normal, but owner building I don't think it cost much more than 8ft ceilings as plasterboard fit nicely.

For the new house, I want 10 or 11ft ceilings. I don't have to have a 50sq house, 30-35sq house will be more than sufficient, but I want the higher ceilings to make it appear more spacious. You walk into old 19th century period homes and they look magnificent with their 11 or 12ft ceilings.

I know anything out of the ordinary building wise, you'll pay handsomely for it.

What would cost extra for 10 or 11ft ceilings, or approximately how much more compared to 9ft ceilings?

I've seen 10ft , but rarely 11ft ceilings in new houses. I'm sure there's a reason for this.

Of course, I know that you'll use more bricks, tiles, labour for painting, etc.

What plasterboards sheets do they use? 9ft uses 2 x standard 1350mm sheets, what about higher ceilings?

I also know heating & cooling is going to be more of an issue, as warm air rises.

Any other issues I should take note of?
