Supporting large roof span
Hi guys,
I am currently working on and Owner Builder Project and have encountered the following problem:
The plan is to remove most of the floor of the first story and build a new floor after. Therefore some interrnal walls have to go. The walls holding a conventional roof (terracotta tiles) and struts are resting on these walls.
Since we are obviously not able to just put props up we need a temporary beam for the span of 6.4m. The outer walls are double brick. Will 3 Timber beams (290x45) be sufficient or does it have to be steel? Or are there any other solutions out there?
Thanks in advance for any idea
