We built our own house from 2008 - 2011 and are now in what I like to call 'home improvement' phase....

We have the following situation:

Sloping block, split level house. Upper level on posts, lower cut in and on concrete.

We subsequently have an 'undercroft' area between the two of about 3,000 x 10,000. It is currently being used for... you guessed it, crap.

I would very much like to enclose part of this space and use it as a non-habitable room as it's a lot of sqm not being used.

The problem (as I see it) is that the current ground level varies from approx 1.6 to 2.3 below the subfloor above (which is the floor of the top level.)

Because of the concrete pad footings that are used in construction of post & beam frame it's not simply a case of cutting to level, as it would undermine the approx 500mm deep footings.
