Default Finished HBO Project - Baby Cot

    Hi All,

I promised a few out there that I'd post pics of my finished project using HBO once it was finally done. Normally this would go in the completed projects section, but it was the finishing forum that gave me a leg up in the right direction a number of times, so I figured the regulars in this section deserve to see it here...

The main timber is Vic Mountain Ash - used on the end panels, open slat sides and the main bed support rails. The posts are engineered merbau (grain was a b***ard but the abrupt changes in colour and grain seemed to work in the end). End panel inserts and caps and the base of the feet are Jarrah. The ply used for the mattress support is pacific maple.

I wrangled a slider mech out of one of the larger cot manufacturers for about $50, so happy times there. The whole thing is held together with brass screws, plate, nuts and 1/2" threaded rod (she's coming apart when the world ends).

However, I have to say that the HBO made a world of difference to the look. It went from being pieces of timber to being alive once the HBO had been completed up to 4000g, with the mountain ash providing some of the best results.

Thanks to the guys who provided assistance in both knowledge and acquisition of materials - much appreciated. Now after 5 months of no weekends I can go on to working on the 4wd (oh no! Metalwork!).

Oh the perils of acronyms, nothing is more designed to make people feel part of the uninitiated.

    IMHO of course.
