Try this
I am the father of a successful Australian singer.
I achieved success in a very different field in my own right.

More clues
Sorry and sorry.
Be prepared to do some winnowing if I can get the clues down correctly.
Artme knows this because he met an employee of the same firm I worked for on a trip on the Southern Aurora in 1967.
By that time my son had made a name for himself. He is now 76 years old.

Even more clues
I was involved with several well known companies, some of which have now met their demise.
Artme was asked by that company employee on the Southern Aurora if he knew of my son
.
Well,at that time who didn't!!
When asked if he knew what the father did artme's answer
was "Wouldn't have a ghost of an idea".

Hmmmm ... a successful Australian singer in the 60s who iz now 76.
(2013 - 1967) = 46 years ago
(76 years old - 46 years ago) = 30 years old in the 60s and famous ??
From the WIKI :
Normie Rowe born 1947 = now 66
Col Joye born 1936 = now 77
But don't know what either of their Dad' did ? Or their Mums ??

Neither of those two old mate.
My son had a singing style nothing like hat of Enrico Caruso.
As for artme he has a liking for descriptive poetry, one of his favourites
begins:
Slowly, silently now the moon
Walks the night in her silver shoon

Bummer ... Will have to do some calcs on hendrix ?
Morning in the bowl of night
has flung the stone that puts the stars to flight
And lo .. The hunter of the east
has caught the Sultan's turret
in a noose of light

Beautifully metaphorical stuphph but alas....
Have a look for specific words in artme's last two posts for a clue as to which British firm I worked for during
that period.
My son probably sang more like a china doll man.

Where did that come from????
In short, no.
You know, I really loved cars and motorcycles. That's one reason I worked with them and for companies either making or associated with them.
Arme thinks some winnowing is needed!!!
