Hello from Wisconsin, USA
I'll start by saying that I found this site, and joined up, because I do some woodworking - but more because I also collect tools. Specifically, I came across what I call a "conversion tool" some years ago (a device that converts a drill into something other than a hole-boring machine: hedge trimmer, fish scaler, jig-, saber-, band-, circular-, or other saw, floor buffer, lawn edger, and so on). It was something new to me. I found another a few weeks later, & was intrigued [yes, the slippery slope's edge!]. After I'd found a few more, I started buying old power drills, just to be able to power them up without spending all of my time swapping items back & forth [yep - sliding down the slope!]. Then I tried to find reference material on both the drills and conversion tools, and discovered . . . NOTHING! Contact with several people who were in position to know confirmed that SOMEone needed to write a book - and they each told me that I was elected, by default.
So, I'm collecting, cataloging, and gathering information from wherever I can find it, with the intent to write that book. ANYONE who can offer such information is welcome to contact me. Thanks in advance!
I'm active - as just plain "Ron" - on Papawswrench / Tool Talk [http://www.papawswrench.com/vboard/], especially the Classic Power Tools area. I'm also: retired (from engineering), a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, and have a wide variety of tools and ways to use them.
